Club Standards and Records

 

Procedure for claims of attempts on club records and club standards

 

a.        Any first claim member wishing to claim a Club record or standard should submit to the time trials secretary the result sheet of the event in which the record or standard was attained.

b.        Members wishing to make an attempt on a Club place to place record or standard should first contact the time trials secretary

c.        Record or standard awards must be claimed during the season in which the qualifying ride is done (between .A .T. M’s)

d.        Records certificates will be awarded to riders beating existing Club records at any distance

e.        Standard certificates will be awarded to riders when they first attain any gold, silver or bronze standard.

f.         If the rider wishes to have a medal to commemorate the attainment of a record or standard this can be provided, but must be paid for by the rider.

Place to Place Courses

 

Clevedon – Portishead – Bristol and Back     (Approx 23 miles)

Start: Drain cover on B3124 opposite Conygar Close. Go to Portishead (Gordano School roundabout) on B3124 then to Middle Bridge and Wyndham Way roundabout. Go via Portbury Hundred (A369) to motorway roundabout and continue on A369 via Easton-in Gornano by-pass and Abbots Leigh and Rownham Hill to the Bower Ashton roundabourt(e.e. the first roundabout), turn and retrace to finish at the west end of the layby on the Clevedon side of the Holly Lane intersection with the B3124. (approx. 23.1/4 miles).  (Course modified in 198l due to road improvements – claims for the new record   to be better than 59 mins 30 secs.

Clevedon – Taunton and Back.    (Approx 76 miles)

Start: Drain cover opposite Dawes Close, about 40 metres past the Clevedon ring road roundabout on the Clevedon-Yatton road B3l33. Turn 20yds after Bus Station, turn into Leycroft, circle Somerset Craft Centre and return. Finish opposite start.

Clevedon – Highbridge and Back   (Approx 42 miles)

Start: Drain cover opposite Dawes Close about 40 metres past the Clevedon ring road roundabout on the Clevedon – Yatton road B3l33. Turn round the mini roundabout in Highbridge.  Finish opposite Start.

Time Trial Courses

Evening Eight Courses.

Start; Drain cover on B3l24 opposite Conygar Close go to roundabout at Gordano School, Portishead.l Turn round roundabout and retrace to finish at the end of layby (join between second and third gutter slabs) on the Clevedon side of Holly Lane intersection with the B3124  (7.93l miles).  (Course measured to RTTC recommendations 9th September 198O by Stan Castle.

From 2004 Season this course not used owing to heavy traffic and large traffic roundabout by Gordano School.

A new course found starting from Kenn

 

Hill Climb

Start: On Shipham Hill at telegraph pole approximately 200 metres from junction with A37l. Proceed up hill to finish on brow approximately 150 metres past last quarry opening and at the gateway approximately 30 metres past bungalow
